Durkh a Modne Gloz (2021)

  • Live performance, JIFF, Cabaret
  • 47min

Durkh a Modne Gloz is an avante-garde theatrical experience that takes you into a poetic dream-world born of Yiddish poetry. Step into the emotionally raw world of female poets, dealing with sexuality and tradition, overbearing relationships, judgement and redemption. Strikingly original, Durkh a Modne Gloz is a musical and theatrical chemistry experiment. The brainchild of composer Josh Abrahams and writer/performer Galit Klas, it builds an electronic score around liturgical and ancient melodies, with retro beats and contemporary sounds. In Yiddish with English subtitles.

Presented by the Kadimah Yiddish Theatre, and produced by the Kadimah Jewish Cultural Centre and National Library. Durkh a Modne Gloz was directed by Gary Abrahams.

Filmed live at the Kadimah Jewish Cultural Centre on August 5th 2021.
